Firm Overview
A Tradition of Results
Our attorneys have a tradition of obtaining results in successfully resolving cases through trial, mediation, arbitration, settlement or appeal across a range of practice areas.
In recent years, our firm’s successes include a jury verdict of $1.5 million, an arbitration award in excess of $3.85 million, a condemnation case settlement of $1.2 million, several bad faith insurance settlements, and a number of confidential settlements, particularly in product liability cases.
A Tradition of Service
At Pope Parker Jenkins, we make every effort to be available to clients, even scheduling meetings in the evening and on weekends if it is best for you. After evaluating your case, we may take it on a contingent fee basis, meaning we charge you for a percentage of your recovery, or no fee at all should we fail in recovery efforts. In some cases, the firm may advance costs and deduct them at conclusion of the case after fees. There is no charge for an initial consultation in most cases (excluding Family Court matters).
A Tradition of Integrity
Pope Parker Jenkins is the successor to Pope & Hudgens which was founded in 1938 by Thomas H. Pope (1913-1999), who was a preeminent trial attorney in 20th Century South Carolina, former Speaker of the South Carolina House of Representatives – the youngest at the time – and President of the South Carolina Bar Association. He excelled in the courtroom, where he successfully tried hundreds of cases, including antitrust cases, murder cases, will contests, railroad defense, business litigation, product liability, and commercial litigation. A Fellow in the American College of Trial Lawyers, he was also a recipient of the South Carolina Compleat Lawyer of the Year Award.
Our firm upholds Pope’s founding principles each day, adhering to:
- an obligation to fight for clients and
- a commitment to diligently help clients with their legal needs in a thorough and timely manner.
A Tradition of Community Service
Upholding our mission includes continued dedication to the growth and safety of our communities. Individually and as a firm, we serve on local boards, participate in fundraisers, and play supportive roles in schools and local non-profit organizations.
